This home is a planned net-zero energy home.  It will produce as much energy as it uses over the course of a year.  A traditional design fit onto a small village lot, this house will require no fossil fuel and will produce all heat and electricity on site with the help of solar panels mounted on the roof.  The goal of this house is to show that creating zero energy production housing is a real possibility and can be done now, even on small lots.

The cost to upgrade this house to be net-zero energy is approximately $30 per square foot after all current incentives.  Consider the following example in which a sacrifice of just 400 square feet can enable a house to be built for the same cost and will require no expense for heat, hot water or electricity ever.
